British P37 Large Backpack, 1937 Pattern Web Equipment
Rare British Surplus
Discovered in the dungeon of an Irish castle, these brand new backpacks are the same as those carried on D-Day by Montgomery’s British Expeditionary Force assault troops.
- Made with an extremely resilient cotton hopsack fabric, this 17″ H x 12½2″ W x 5″D pack was manufactured from 1940-1943 and issued as a daypack for transporting rations and gear.
- Two detachable shoulder straps attach to sturdy reinforced web loops at top and bottom.
- Solid brass fixtures.
- Buckle-down top flap.
- Authenticated by date stamp and the “broad arrow” proof mark which, since the 14th century, has been used by the British Crown to identify its property. This is a rare artifact of WWII militaria.
Condition: Very good to excellent condition. These may have brass or black metal hardware.
